Hi! I’m Kara Holtgrave and I have been teaching second grade at Aviston Elementary since 2001. Education has been very important throughout my life, growing up with both my parents as teachers. I grew up in Germantown and attended Mater Dei High School, graduating in 1994. I went on to receive my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education in 1999 from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. After graduation, I taught two years in a small, private school that sadly closed its doors for the final time just a few years ago. I taught combined first and second grades my first year and preschool and kindergarten my second year.

I truly enjoy working with children. I love to see them learn and grow throughout the year!
